SEEKING REPRESENTATION

  • MUST BE WITH IN COMMUTING  DISTANCE OF  ANGELES OR BE WILLING TO COME OUT  FOR AT LEAST 2 TO 3 MONTHS.
  •  E-MAIL OR MAIL PICTURES OR HEADSHOTS TO US  INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ON EACH PICTURE WITH ALL OF THE CHILD'S INFORMATION ON THE BACK OF EACH PICTURE, INCLUDING PHONE NUMBERS AND ADDRESSES
  • WHEN SUBMITTING TO US or e-mailing to us,  PLEASE PUT THE CITY AND STATE THAT YOU LIVE IN.
  • WHEN SENDING PICTURES THROUGH THE MAIL, PLEASE SEND A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE and put your phone number, dob, age, parents name and child's name on the back of each picture.

CHILDREN 3 YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER

  • We work on a commission basis.

  • SAG principle 15% ,

  •  extra, non-union, and print work 20%

  • We do not usually place the children under 3 with one particular Talent agency, unless an agency refers them to us.  We do them freelance. Most talent agencies do not take children on until they turn 4.  Some will take them on at 3. The agencies will call their managers when they have projects for children under 3 and we do the leg work for them.

  • PICTURES MUST BE PUT ON LA CASTING( 1ST PICTURE IS FREE) and BREAKDOWN SERVICES (ALL PICTURES ARE FREE)

  • YOU CAN MAKE YOUR PICTURE SHEETS TO TAKE IN ON AUDITIONS OFF OF THE RESUME ON LA CASTING..

  • Please  include an additional picture of  parents and siblings together on LA casting, as we sometimes have commercial auditions that want real families

  • Updated pictures must be sent to LA casting on January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15.
    * One reason we have a cut off date is because we make books out of the current pictures and take it to some of the casting agents.  If you don't have the pictures in to LA CASTING  by the cut off date you will not be in the book.    We can not get your child out on auditions with out pictures.  Casting directors pick from our picture submissions for 99% of all auditions.  This saves you from going on senseless auditions, if your child does not fit the part. Please Send them on time.

  • Please send copies of current work permits and trust accounts to us for our records.

  • You must constantly update sizes and abilities, etc. in LA CASTING AND BREAKDOWN SERVICES.  PLEASE PUT THE DATE YOU UPDATED YOUR INFORMATION IN LA CASTING UNDER HOBBIES OR SKILLS IN LA CASTING RESUME SECTION.

  • Pictures are very important. These pictures are submitted to casting directors, either through LA Casting or by hard copies that our office prints up. We do not charge you to print up pictures for submissions for younger children. We do this at our expense. The casting directors  look at these pictures to determine if they want to audition your child or not. It is like a pre-audition.  Please get the pictures to LA CASTING on time. You must call us when you notice that they have actually put it on the web site, so that we can paste it into our database.  It looks very bad for you and for us, if we do not have current pictures on file to submit with. We have started putting books together for some of the casting agents.

CHILDREN OVER 4

  • You must make money for us to make money.

  • We work on a commission basis.

  • SAG principle 15% ,

  •  Extra, non-union, and print work 20%

  • We need professional colored  headshots or composites for children over 4. We will suggest photographers for you to use. You do not have to use them, but they are the ones that the agents we work with like to use.  We do not make a profit out of these pictures.  They are a necessity .The prices will vary from photographer to photographer and from print company to print company.

  • We do children under 3 freelance, but for the children over 3 we place them with a SAG Agency.

ACTING CLASSES

  • ACTING CLASSES are a must  for children over 6, unless we feel that they do not need them.  Some children under 6 need classes, as well.   Every one must work at their craft. You do not have to take classes continuously. We will refer you to acting coaches that our agents recommend.

  • We do coach our children on theatrical scripts for free, when they have a theatrical audition.  You always have to be coached for theatrical auditions, either by us or another professional coach.

  • The advantage of having a manager is that you have a support system for you and your child. We do a lot of extra things for you that an agent does not have time to do. We work with over 14  SAG agencies. You have a better chance of getting your child an excellent talent agent and of getting out on auditions, if your with us.

BELOW IS INFORMATION ONLY FOR THE TALENT WE REPRESENT, IF YOU ARE SEEKING REPRESENTATION PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US.

RULES

Your child’s welfare is of the up most importance to us and of course, comes first. Please call us if they are sick or you are going out of town, so we can replace them on an audition. We will also stop submitting them until they get well or you come back. Babies might go through " stranger anxiety" and Toddlers go through the "terrible two’s". This is normal. Let us know when this happens, so we can "book them out" until it is over. If you commit to an audition then you are responsible for going. If your child is sick, then you must call us in time to replace him.

Notification of Auditions:
I work until all of the audition times are given out for the day, even if it is 11PM.  You must call us back immediately to confirm or you could loose the audition.   If we are given the call the day of the audition you will only have a few hours notice (sometimes these are the best ones to go on, as a lot of people will not be able to go) and we would like you to try to make it.

Prepare in advance for emergencies.
Please make alternate plans to get them to auditions if you are: working, if your car is with your spouse for the day, you have another child who is ill, your car is in the shop, and etc., etc. It looks bad for us as well as your child if you cancel auditions.

Twins, Triplets, Quads, etc.  I do call the twins Club Talent Liaisons when I don’t have enough children for certain projects, but that is for approximately 5% of the calls that I get.

Take my phone number, (818)980-2900, with you at all times. Call me if you are late to an audition, so I can notify the casting director. You must keep a record of the agent I sent you through and what your child wore to the audition.

Commissions:
There is a 15% commission on principle projects and a 20% commission on non-union, extra (back ground work) and print work . The SAG Talent agent on record for the project gets a 10% commission on principle projects and a 20% commission on print work. This commission is out of all monies received.

OFFICE HOURS  FOR TALENT are between 10 AM and 5:00 PM.
Please do not call before 11 am or after 5:00 unless it is an emergency or you are calling to confirm an audition. You must call to confirm an audition at any time of the day or night. The answering machine is always on. If you get the answering machine during business hours, I am either busy doing a submission or taking a booking. If you call and the phone rings, but no one answers, I am on the other line and I can not get to you right then, so please call back. Only call the main number (818)980-2900, never call any secondary numbers. We do go to lunch  between 1 and 3. (everyone has to eat)

WORK PERMIT INFORMATION

The work permit is a necessity, as children cannot work without it. Please get it as soon as possible as I would like to be able to send you directly to a job. They will not allow you on the set without one. Notify me as soon as you get it for your children and then send me a copy of it. Please do not send the original. You need it when you go to the set. Work permits must be renewed every 6 months. You need to send me copies of each work permit you receive for my files. You need to take a birth certificate with you or something from the hospital stating that the child was born for children under school age. For children over school age you need to send a copy of their report card during the summer months or get the school to sign the application during school term. It can not be dated over a month old when you send it in. All school age children must have a C or above to be able to get a permit.

The rules above are in force to protect the child from abusive work situations. Because of these rules, they usually hire more than one baby for a principle role. These babies, there fore, are hired normally as extras to upgrade to principle on a commercial shoot. Please look at the booking as a paid call back. We do not know which of the babies are in the commercial until we see the actual commercial. They will normally only hire identical or look alike multiples for theatrical shoots.

                          TRUST ACCOUNTS

Trust accounts are a must.  A minor’s legal guardian must start a Trust account for the minor before he will be allowed to work.  These New laws are going to be in forced, starting January 2000 and you must have a trust account started with proof of the account to take to the set.  This is a new law so agents, casting directors, managers, and production must try to conform to the law.  Some confusion might arise as to what you must take with you to the set to prove you have a trust account open. The producers are saying that you must have the information mentioned below with you at the time you go to the set.

I have listed below some the information that was given to us for your reference: (Please use it as a guide line)

1)  Section 6752 of the Family Code states that the child’s parent or legal guardian must put up a minimum of 15% of the gross earnings of the minor in a Trust account or other savings plan, until the minor is legally 18 years old or is emancipated.

2) The parent or legal Guardian must show proof of guardianship, by presenting a birth certificate or a legal document from the courts granting permanent guardianship.  They will then be considered the trustees of the account.

3)  The 15% will be deposited directly from the employer within 15 business days into the minor’s trust account.

4)   The 15% can be changed upon petition to the courts by amending the order.

5)   You must provide the minor’s employer with a true and accurate photocopy of the trustee’s statement of the trust account, at the time of the job.

6)   The trust can be established at a bank, savings and loan institution, credit union, brokerage firm, or company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.  The trust must be established with in 7 business days of the contract being signed.

7)   No withdrawal may be made until the minor is 18 years old.  You then must present a birth certificate to the institution to prove age.

8)  The trustee shall provide, within 10 business days after the minor’s contract is signed, a written statement showing the following: name, address, and telephone number of the financial institution, the name of the account, the number on the account, the name of the minor beneficiary, the name of the trustee or trustee of the account, and any additional information needed by the minor’s employer to deposit into the account the portion of the minor’s gross earnings.

9)  The trustee shall attach to the written statement a true and accurate photocopy of any information received from the financial institution confirming the creation of the account, such as an account agreement, account terms, passbook, or other similar writings.

10) If the trust is established in the US. It must be in a financial institution that is insured by one of the following:  Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), or the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) or their respective successors, or with a company that is and remains registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.

11)The trustee may transfer funds between accounts or another savings plan at the same financial institution or company, provided that the funds transferred shall continue to be held in trust.

12) The trustee may transfer funds to another financial institution or company as long as the companies or institutions abide by the same guidelines as above.

13) The trustee may use all or a part of the funds to purchase investment funds offered by a company registered under the investment Company Act of 1940, provided that they are equity securities,  the investment fund is a broad-based index fund or invests broadly across the domestic or a foreign regional economy, is not a sector fund, and has assets under management of at least two hundred fifty million dollars: or government securities and bonds, certificates of deposit, money market instruments, money market accounts, or mutual funds investing solely in those government securities and bonds, certificates that have a maturity date on or before the date upon which the minor turns 18 years old. Any proceeds accruing must be re-deposited into that account or used to purchase more similar securities, bonds, etc. that abide by the above-mentioned guidelines.

14)  Some banks and investment firms that are doing the trust accounts:

a)      Pain Webber

b)      Morgan Stanley

c)      Dean Witter

d)      Wells Fargo  (WFI account)( $1 initial investment required and no fees or minimum needed)

e)      City National ( requires $100 to open and a minimum of $1000.00 in the account in order not to have a service charge of $9 quarterly)

WHAT TO WEAR AT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN

  1. Do not use paisley print, fine checks, stripes  or logos

  2. You may layer your clothes, solid colors are better.

  3. Wear casual clothes (do not dress up, no frills)

  4. Do not wear sleeveless clothes or dresses. PLEASE Look your age or younger.

  5. Do not wear make up, ear rings, jewelry etc. and only use small hair berets or pins.

  6. Take 3 or 4 changes of clothing.

  7. Do 2 to 4 different looks (casual, tomboy, a child with attitude, simple, etc.)

  8. Change your hair style with each look.  Make sure the hair is away from the eyes.

  9. Make sure the shoulders are square with the camera and the child is looking straight at the camera. Make sure hair and clothing looks good.

  10.  Arrive early at the shoot, so that you may have time to get your child in the mood to get their pictures taken.  Some times children, when they have been in the car a long time, get tired and you have to have time to wake them up and get them in the mood to get their pictures taken. Please allow for this as this could mean the difference between good pictures and bad pictures.  You only get one try.  Please make sure that the child is in a good mood to get their pictures taken.   If they are not, then ask the photographer if they can do it at a different time.

We would like you to put a family picture IN, as well. We will then be able to submit on projects that what real families.

Print the RESUME IN LA CASTING and use it AS YOUR PICTURE SHEET TO TAKE WITH YOU for AUDITIONS.
